The Wizard Returns

Three years ago, I had every intention of starting this site and regularly posting my thoughts, challenges, and triumphs around Tableau. However, that plan quickly fell by the wayside as life got in the way. I found myself spending less and less time for Tableau outside of my regular 8-6 consulting gig. What free time I did have, was often taken up by my daughter’s strenuous club soccer schedule, with an occasional poker night thrown in there for sanity sake. And so here we are again, the start of a new year and I am vowing to devote time and energy to sharing my expertise with the Tableau community. After all, who couldn’t use a fresh start in 2021?

So who am I? I have been using Tableau since 2012. At the time, I was an Energy Analyst stuck in a world of SQL and Excel reporting. I had previously worked as an environmental modeler. I saw someone use Tableau to visualize their data and I was hooked. I watched every video on Tableau’s website, convinced my boss we needed it for our department, and eventually changed careers to become a Tableau consultant full-time.

Currently, I am the Senior Director of Tableau Development for DataBrains, a Tableau Partner based out of Jacksonville, FL. I lead a team of talented Tableau consultant, run our Center of Excellence, and provide both Tableau training and consulting services to our clients. I love what I do and I love sharing my knowledge and expertise of Tableau with others.

So here I am, giving this another go. I am going to try and hold myself accountable to providing content a few times a month (I’d love to say once a week, but I’m going to ease back into this). I’ll be sharing all kinds of things here – from my attempts at WorkoutWednesday and the occasional MakeoverMonday, to explanations of new features/releases, tips and tricks, and basically anything Tableau. The sky is the limit. So, come along for the ride — maybe we can learn a few things together.
